So, Birth by Sleep

Spoilers~~~~~~~~~~~~
I am still partway through Ventus' story, but I have to comment on how wonderful it is the way he reacts to events. . . So basically his friends are all fighting. He runs into them at Radiant Gardens and Aqua confronts Terra "That doesn't sound like what the master asked you to do."
And Terra is kind of snippish-- "You saw the masked boy?!" and Ventus is uncomfy cuz he thinks he took care of it--
and then Aqua accuses Terra - "I've been to all the same worlds as you..."
and Terra storms off to find Master Xehanort and also Vanitas and Ventus is mad at Aqua "You're horrible." and she tells him to go HOME VEN IT'S DANGEROUSSSSSS and he says no and leaves...
and then as he goes through worlds he is no longer following his friends, trying to track down Terra. Instead, he is looking for new friends. "I'm just looking to make new friends"
Bc that's what happens when your friends are all mad at you and each other and you're an angsty/emotional teenager: you decide to find new friends.

Note: Sora also does this, to a lesser extent, when the gummi ship crashes in Deep Jungle: "There's one who's short and grumpy, and the other one is tall and . . . never mind." and then he describes Riku and Kairi. actual quote: "The loud one is Dona--- . . . . you know what? Never mind. I'm looking for my friends, Riku and Kairi."

Actual description of A-T-V meeting:
Ventus finds his friends and gives them the Disney Town tickets he got, becoming a bit disheartened remembering that he was told to take "two grown-ups". Aqua quickly begins telling him to Go Home.
Ventus responds by reassuring his pals that "that guy in the mask is history"
Terra Tottally Overreacts, grabbing Ven's shoulder and snapping "You saw the boy in the mask??"
Ventus, surprised, pauses, and stutters, "Y-yes?"
Terra looks away and says, cryptically and dramatically, "Vanitas. . ."
THEN he starts ALSO telling Ven to go home. "Ven. You let Aqua take you home" (as if he didn't get this far by himself and can't go home on his own)
Ventus disagrees, feeling left out.
Terra insists, claiming that he and Aqua (?? He implied that aqua would go home w Ven but then both he and ven immediately disregarded that?) had a "dangerous task ahead of" them.
This is when Aqua begins her confrontation. "And what is this dangerous task, Terra? It doesn't sound like what the master told you to do.."
Terra claims that though "it might be a different route" he is "fighting the darkness."
Aqua "isn't so sure." "I've been to the same worlds as you, and I've seen what you've done." She begins admonishing Terra for putting himself close to the darkness, when Ventus jumps to his defense. "Listen to yourself, Aqua! Terra would never--"
But (unappreciative as he is) Terra ignores Ven and accuses Aqua of spying on him and asks if that was what the master's orders were.
Aqua doesn't know how to respond, "He was only--..."
As she says this you can see Ven's face fall and he says "Aqua. . . . ."
Well Terra, Terra ain't takin this disapproval. So (macho as he is) says "I get it," as he turns and begins to walk away. Ven tries to follow, calling after him, "Terra!" but Terra (mature as he is) has Had Enough of this Tomfoolery and snaps, "Just STAY PUT." Terra (independent as he is) has decided that he is "On [His] Own Now, All Right?"
Aqua tries to reel him back in, saying that the master has no reason to distrust Terra, really, he was just worried!
But Terra (unforgiving as he is) continues walking without a backward glance (tsk tsk tsk).
Ventus (now badly injured by these new revelations) turns to Aqua and says, in a tone of realization, "You're awful Aqua."
She makes a sad "mm" sound and says (in the voice of someone simply agreeing to a toddler's claims) tiredly, "So now you know the truth." Then she tries to console Ven/validate these things by saying, "But the Master loves Terra; and you know that too."
Ven (still EXTREMELY HURT) asks if she was also ordered to take him home.
Her non-answer says everything (I guess) and he contests that her newfound status as Keyblade Master, she's let it get to her head. He decides to chase down Terra (by her gasp and sigh Aqua clearly doesn't approve of this plan but knows that Ven isn't going to listen to her if she tells him not to; in fact he'd be more likely to not return home if things got dangerous.
So anyway, after saving a little child from some unversed (!!!!!!! IENZO IS SO FREAKING ADORABLE)(also ventus describes Terra as "a tall guy dressed kinda like me" he doesn't mention, i dunno, hair color? or that his pants are WAY different and he's red x suspenders??) and having an unsettling conversation with a guy in a lab coat ("I have a feeling we are destined to cross paths again."), Ventus catches up with Terra just in time to exchange a few words before terra LEAVES.
So Ven requests that Terra let Ven go with him (as if he didn't make himself clear the first two times?) and Terra (stubborn as he is) predictably says no. "I can't do that, Ven."
Well Ventus can't comprehend this so (after gasping as if injured)(you really didn't expect this?) he asks "why not???????"
Terra (bad as he is with kids), trying to figure out how to not further hurt Ven's feelings, answers with a complete non sequitur. "I just-- When I really need you, Ven, I know you'll be there." (Ok?? how does this answer the question??) but apparently Ventus is like 5 and this cheers him right up!
"Well, why wouldn't I? I'm your friend."
Terra (dense as he is) seems to only just now realize this: "Yeah... you're right. Thanks, Ven." And... HE'S OFF!
Ventus rehears that last line and looks weirdly shocked/worried, and decides he needs to tell Aqua!!!
So he goes and finds aqua.
"Did you find him?" she asks.
"Yeah, but.. he's gone." Ventus sounds very strangely shocked by this fact.
Aqua has been expecting it though, and simply says, "Right. Then I can't stay here."
Ventus, his first choice off the table, nobly offers to accompany her. (What is this, "I humbly offer my services; please, please, it's on the house."???)
Aqua (honestly I can't blame her at this point, He's getting on my nerves too. Has it not gotten into your thick little skull that they both want you safe at home?????? Come on Ven they said it like 12 times.) sternly says, "No, Ven. Do as I say and go home."
And Ventus, eternally noncomprehending, pouts and his music starts playing (a sad medley of violin and piano). "Why won't you let me?" he asks.
Aqua gives a Completely Reasonable and Understandable answer, "I don't want to put you in harm's way." which Ven still doesn't understand. She asks him if he understands, doesn't wait for him to answer (bc he doesn't) and triggers her Keyblade Armor (what makes it keyblade armor? that''s a topic for a different day. When I actually know the answer.) and leaves.
Aqua!!! Angsty teen alert!!! Ven's gonna do something stupid!!! Sighh she can't hear me.
So Ven has a flashback to when he was practicing with Terra and Aqua was cheering from the sidelines and then Terra quotes the Ritual of Passing Down the Keyblade or whatever it's called. Then he gives Ventus the wooden keyblade he was playing with and did he just pass the keyblade down to Ventus? Is it actually a real keyblade that he gave Ven? Cuz Ven isn't seen carrying it around, he just has it. ???????? i have questions sigh.

This was fun. G'night.
