Spoilers for Moon Rising, The Hidden Kingdom, and The Dark Secret.
So in Moon Rising, in one of Moon's visions of the explosion, "Beside her, Kinkajou shrieking and burning, white amid the smoke," (pg 170). and "Kinkajou bent over her, white and green patches pummeling each other across her scales, and carefully lifted one of her friend's talons," (pg 182).
So white can be pure terror, or intense pain.
Then, in The Hidden Kingdom, "She took a deep breath and forced all the dark rolling red and billowing orange out of her scales until she was a calm white, like the blossoms around the queen's neck," (pg 67). But.. she's not forcing herself to be - or at least, seem - terrified or anguished, right? Well, of course not; that wouldn't make sense. She wouldn't want to seem weak in front of the queen. Well, perhaps she was just changing her color purposefully, like in that queen competition - wait - she took a deep breath.... what do we know to be the main reason for people to tell us to take a deep breath ... to calm down, right? so... - and wait--- it said "like the blossoms around the queen's neck" ... and flower blossoms aren't usually shock-white, right? They usually have light pink or blue or red undertones, or are at least some shade of cream or beige. Whoa.
ookay then.
Well. That pretty much wraps up that. I hope you enjoyed it! Oh! And, I saw something in The Dark Secret: someone turned lavender "with pure bliss" or perhaps it was relief... hmmm... I don't.... remember... Oh well.
Me: "I need a funny quo-ote"
Penguin: "Laughter is the best medicine. The best thing is, you can't OD and the refills are free."
Me: "Yeah. Unfortunately for those people in Tanganyika, that's untrue." [look up the Tanganyikan laughing epidemic]
