we watched Madagascar today and it was actually pretty funny at parts! they could have come up with a solution earlier, and i'm sure King Julien would have if they'd like approached him about the issue instead of running away and signalling a boat and then just leaving. by that time they had their own solution anyway. but anyhow, they could've had Alex eat Fossa right? that way he's not eating his friends or the lemurs (who he's supposed to be protecting) plus that ups his scare factor for the fossa right? - 1:00 am

we watched Monster Trucks. . it was really bad but like. . not how you'd expect? it was like Waterhorse somehow even though neither Penguin nor I recall anything about Waterhorse.
They had a character who didn't get closure but like everyione else got a quick scene during the epilogue/falling action. There was even a part where he'd have fit in perfectly?? but he wasn't there???? i think it's bc he's fat :T but other than that his character was prettty much cool??? ughgh
i'm glad the Monster spent most of the time inside the truck bc it looked disgusting. also there was a presumable female of the species (implied to be his mom) and she was pink. She looked like she was covered in blood. the first time we saw her she was sick bc they hadn't figured out what the monsters ate yet so she was all shriveled up and sad and i thought? her skin was white and pink from that but no!! the other two were like dark gray, you know, a color that would make sense for a creature that lives miles and miles below the surface of the earth in an underwater lake next to an oil source which it eats from. - 7/6 5:40 am

tw in the following for abuse (verbal, emotional, neglect + manipulation) mention in a fictional (video game) context:
i think the reason i hate diz so much is bc we're expected to forgive him. marluxia and larxene abused and manipulated namine too but they're villains, and we get to kill them. Diz not only neglects, manipulates, and emotionally abuses namine, he's extremely Lightist/heartist/prejudiced against nobodies. He outright tells namine that other than her ability to manipulate memories and such she's useless, and not only that, but she doesn't have a right to exist even though she does exist. He calls Xion aworthless "blasted" puppet in front of her. He straight up tells Roxas that "a nobody doesn't have the right [to know the truth about their fate]". and we're supposed to like him. he shows up again like 5 months later, with a machine to break kingdom hearts (i believe by turning it into data??) which explodes, spiriting him away and somehow returning Riku's body to normal. He admits his mistakes ("all those people whose lives i managed to ruin...") but he doesn't do anything about it. He meets aqua in the realm of darkness and just acts selfdepricating and boring. He meets riku in sora's heart bc during the restoration process he APPARENTLY DATAFIED HIMSELF AND ENCODED HIMSELF INTO SORA'S HEART ALONG WITH A BUNCH OF HIS DATA. obviously there was no other option to share his knowledge with anyone. he definitely couldn't have, i don't know, given it to riku during the yeaaarrr they were working together? what the heck. and he's a jerk to riku too. i haven't finished re:com yet so i can't tell you what all happens in it but gosh. It's one of those super-diverse books that heavily incorporates Internets and Fandom and Cool Youth Lingo but IT IS ACTUALLY A REALLY GOOD READ IT DOESN'T FEEL UNPROFESSIONAL OR UNFINISHED OR ANYTHING
IT'S GOT A LEGIT RIVETING STORYLINE (as you could guess from my reading more than half the book in the last 4 hours)
It's mainly about a friendship and it's so freaking sweet it made me cry like omg i'm never accepting less affection than this in my Friendship/Found Family stories Ever Again.
tw: child abuse, minor but upsetting animal death mention (not graphic), suicide mention, and two instances of Creepy Fans (you know, death threats, suicide baiting and the like).
Character deaths: Only the dog, as mentioned before, who is a very minor character. The death is offscreen, only mentioned.
seriously this book you guys. this book is everything. I love . . I love it so much. The narrator has a really good relationship with her mother, and all the characters are Alive and like so vibrant.. I could actually imagine like half of the things that were happening that doesn't usually happen i'm not even kidding you guys if you want a book with a great realistic and diverse cast of characters that's not either a romance or poorly edited, read Radio Silence. Oh, also, it's YA for a reason.. I'd recommend it for anyone over like 15. - 7/9 5:27 am

Penguin kept stealing money, and at one point tried to steal a one. The game involved buying Monopoly properties without knowing what color they were, and trying for a set. Naturally she went for the railroads, but the only way to get more money was by obtaining a set and we started with $300 each. She got 2 railroads. I took my turn, and then she tried to sell the railroads back -- for more money than she bought them for. Which led to the classic line:
"They haven't increased in value! If anything, it's decreased because they touched your grimy, grimy fingers"
also I tried to buy one of her properties bc it was part of a set i had part of. the property cost $80 and I tried to pay $90 for it.
she refused.
"what am I going to do with these 90 dollars then??" I asked in exasperation. She reached out and tried to grab them from me.
she also tried to "cash in" her "beachfront properties" which were just part of the board.
it was the funniest thing.
the game was prefaced by another game called "Monopoly Fun" which was Go Fish with Monopoly properties, and we dealt out the entire deck, so Penguin didn't get a turn. This was also how we figured out how many of each color there were for "Monopoly Memory".

And we don't really ever get to know their motivations?? like it's common consensus that Marluxia and Larxene were trying to overthrow the organization but like why? and namine is such a good character like you can TELL that she does kind of want what she's making, for sora to care about her, and to come rescue her, but also she wants to do the right thing so she stops before erasing kairi's memory entirely, and tells him what's going on, but she's still disappointed that he chooses to forget her~~~

It's one of those super-diverse books that heavily incorporates Internets and Fandom and Cool Youth Lingo but IT IS ACTUALLY A REALLY GOOD READ IT DOESN'T FEEL UNPROFESSIONAL OR UNFINISHED OR ANYTHING
IT'S GOT A LEGIT RIVETING STORYLINE (as you could guess from my reading more than half the book in the last 4 hours)
It's mainly about a friendship and it's so freaking sweet it made me cry like omg i'm never accepting less affection than this in my Friendship/Found Family stories Ever Again.
tw: child abuse, minor but upsetting animal death mention (not graphic), suicide mention, and two instances of Creepy Fans (you know, death threats, suicide baiting and the like).
Character deaths: Only the dog, as mentioned before, who is a very minor character. The death is offscreen, only mentioned.
seriously this book you guys. this book is everything. I love . . I love it so much. The narrator has a really good relationship with her mother, and all the characters are Alive and like so vibrant.. I could actually imagine like half of the things that were happening that doesn't usually happen i'm not even kidding you guys if you want a book with a great realistic and diverse cast of characters that's not either a romance or poorly edited, read Radio Silence. Penguin kept stealing money, and at one point tried to steal a one. The game involved buying Monopoly properties without knowing what color they were, and trying for a set. Naturally she went for the railroads, but the only way to get more money was by obtaining a set and we started with $300 each. She got 2 railroads. I took my turn, and then she tried to sell the railroads back -- for more money than she bought them for. Which led to the classic line:
"They haven't increased in value! If anything, it's decreased because they touched your grimy, grimy fingers"
also I tried to buy one of her properties bc it was part of a set i had part of. the property cost $80 and I tried to pay $90 for it.
she refused.
"what am I going to do with these 90 dollars then??" I asked in exasperation. She reached out and tried to grab them from me.
she also tried to "cash in" her "beachfront properties" which were just part of the board.
it was the funniest thing.
the game was prefaced by another game called "Monopoly Fun" which was Go Fish with Monopoly properties, and we dealt out the entire deck, so Penguin didn't get a turn. This was also how we figured out how many of each color there were for "Monopoly Memory".

honestly wish CoM weren't so tedious and hard to play. bc dang it's got an incredible story and like amazing characters and stuff right?? but the "story" is so segmented and spaced out and in between is so mind-numbing that i don't think many people even stick it out very far. which is a shame bc when i finally got to the credits??? i just about died on the spot. bc i didn't know that crud was in there. ??? a cutscene with Kairi and Selphie???? A new poem????? Axel and Rikuplica????? I wasn't aware of any of that!! (ok i'd seen the cutscene in at least one amv before, but i didn't know it was in the CoM credits. i thought it was an ad or something) And like! Aside from that, you really start to fear the Org, most especially Axel, bc like. You know these guys are the bad guys. that's fine. You've just beaten Vexen, but he's not dead, and he's trying to tell you something and Axel shows up and murders him????? wth Axel???? What are you people???? as sora would say. and they're just throwing namine and rikuplica around, and they act like they're throwing sora and riku around as well (which doesn't go the way they plan), and they're so confident. And we don't really ever get to know their motivations?? like it's common consensus that Marluxia and Larxene were trying to overthrow the organization but like why? and namine is such a good character like you can TELL that she does kind of want what she's making, for sora to care about her, and to come rescue her, but also she wants to do the right thing so she stops before erasing kairi's memory entirely, and tells him what's going on, but she's still disappointed that he chooses to forget her~~~

had a dream about the Seekers books. I brought one into the bathroom to read in the bath, but it was mostly blank, and i realized there was another one in the bathroom so i checked which book it was and it was book 1 of the second arc, rather than book 6 or whichever I'm on. not 6. like 4 i think. anyway. I picked it up and it was called Lusa is a Bear and I opened it and almost all of the pages were completely black. - 7/30 12:34 pm
