Dad is just starting Winter Turning. He makes good and hilarious theories about the books. Here are some (spoilers ahead for all 8 books!): (Can you believe I can say that now? EIGHT books!!!)
Okay so Dad just said "well if Peril holds the scroll it would just ignite and she would save everyone from an awful fate" so I don't know if he's psychic or what because THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT HAPPENED. S. He also guessed that it was Orca in TLH and she had put her life into the statue and stuff. And in THK he guessed that Grandeur would throw the competition because she cared about how things got done and noticed that Glory could get things done.
He also guessed that Sunny would become queen because the SandWing queen is always born without a stinger tail. And suspected that Sunny was a hybrid, and pretty early on in the fifth book, too. But he was pretty set on either Mud- or SkyWing. He ruled out NightWing pretty quick. Which. Y'know.
"I have Lightning from thirteen and Red Thirteen from seven... I have FuSoYa, she's a lunarian, she's from the moon."
"What's a luna-- Oh."
